Project summary

This Project “Strengthening the protective environment for children through a comprehensive child protection and GBV response in the Rohingya camps and host communities” in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, funded by UNICEF. Tdh will implementthe project in camp 5, 6 ,15 and Palongkhali and Rajapalong Union in Ukhiya, focuses on strengthening the protective environment for children through a comprehensive child protection and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) response.

Project goal

The project’s goal is to strengthen the protective environment for children including adolescents by ensuring more equitable and higher-quality child protection and gender-based violence services for the targeted beneficiaries. It targets 16163 children, adolescents, caregivers, community members, and system actors, aligning with UNICEF’s Country Programme and national child protection frameworks.

Key activities:

  • Provide individualized CP and GBV case management services for 640 refugee children and adolescents under 18 at risk of abuse, neglect, exploitation, or violence.

  • Conduct structured psychosocial support sessions using Khushir Khorak and UNICEF Life Skills Curriculum, reaching 2,160 children and adolescents.

  • Facilitate Sports for Protection (S4P) and YouCreate arts-based sessions, empowering 1,200 adolescents with resilience, life skills, and community engagement.

  • Deliver Girl Shine sessions for 540 adolescent girls and their caregivers, enhancing life skills, resilience, and protective family practices.

  • Conduct door-to-door MHPSS visits for 480 refugees aged 16+, including GBV survivors, using WHO’s PM+ approach.

  • Train 63 Tdh staff, 111 volunteers, and 140 government/humanitarian actors on CP/GBV, safeguarding, case management, and mainstreaming, strengthening the overall protection system.
