“During the evening hours, visiting the toilet used to be a fearful experience for me. The area was shrouded in darkness, and there were young boys who would gather around, causing disturbances and discomfort for girls like me. This made us hesitant to use the toilet, and instead, I resorted to using a corner of the house and disposing of the waste in the toilet early in the morning. The lack of lighting made the situation even more challenging.
But thanks to Terre des hommes (Tdh) through the Kalyana project, everything has changed! we have been provided with solar lights that have completely transformed the surroundings of the toilet. Now, the area is well-lit, eliminating any risks or disturbances from unwanted individuals. We can safely and confidently use the toilet at any time, just as we would during the day.
“The support from Tdh has brought us immense gratitude and happiness. We can now use the toilet more comfortably, all thanks to the installation of these solar lights.” – Fatema (09), Camp-26, Block G
