Plastic Recycling – BPRM

Tdh’s Kalyana Project, funded by US Department of State’s Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration (BPRM), has been managing waste in Camp 26 and surrounding host communities in Teknaf since 2021 by maintaining a proper waste management cycle (collection to disposal). To further up the process and protect environment, Tdh has set up a plastic recycling plant that will effectively reduce plastic pollution in the Camps 26, 27 and surrounding host communities.

The plastic recycling plant was inaugurated on June 14 by honorable Camp in Charge (CiC) of Camp 26 and Assistant Camp in Charge (ACiC) of Camp 27 where representatives from likeminded organizations, Site Management Support-SMS representatives and Tdh staff were present.

The CiC praised this intervention as it is new in Teknaf and hoped that it will bring about positive changes in terms of environmental conservation and public health at the camps and surrounding host communities through safe management of plastic waste. He also urged Tdh to increase its scope of activities by leveraging its visibility, and expertise in plastic recycling.
